Our goal is to individualize the highest quality of care to all our patients.  Dr. Bruce Bateman, Dr. Christopher Williams, and Dr. Laura Smith are subspecialty trained physicians trained in Reproductive Medicine, Surgery and Infertility.  They have over 35 years of combined experience in these areas.  Our physicians offer all levels of care from the least interventional and gentle to the most “high tech” and complex, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
         
Doctors Bruce Bateman and Chris Williams are cited as two of the nations “best doctors” in America by “Best Doctors, Inc.”  This is a survey of over 35,000 doctors to name the best physicians across the nation. Dr. Christopher Williams is the author of “The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally”, a widely read book sold internationally to help couples maximize their chances to conceive.  Doctors Bateman, Williams and Smith have collectively published more than 50 papers on Reproductive Medicine and Surgery issues and serve as reviewers for many major medical journal including - The New England Journal of Medicine - on infertility topics.

Dr. Bateman, Dr. Williams and Dr. Smith completed a four year residency in obstetrics and gynecology and were selected to complete an additional three year fellowship in Reproductive Medicine, Surgery and Infertility - also called Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. RESOLVE, a national infertility patient advocacy group, recommends that all couples seeking infertility services are seen by a sub-specialist who is certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Christopher Williams, MDVirginia infertility specialist

Dr. Christopher Williams grew up in Reston, Virginia.  He has three children - two boys and a girl. He attended the College of William & Mary earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  He then graduated from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1994 to complete his medical education. 

Following medical school, Dr. Williams went to Charlotte, North Carolina, to undertake a four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center.  He was then selected in 1998 by The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete a three-year Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. 

Dr. Williams served on the UVA Faculty from 2001 to 2005 and was Co-Director of the In Vitro Fertilization Program. Dr. Williams continues to be actively involved in research and is a co-investigator on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grant assessing the influence of acupuncture on menstrual cycles in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

He has published numerous research articles, and has received research grant support from organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Berlex Foundation. In addition to his other publications, Dr. Williams published a book, "The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally," a guide to help couples conceive, which is sold internationally.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and sub-specialty certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Laura Smith, MD

Dr. Laura Smith was born in Charlottesville, Virginia.  She is married.  She spent time in Missouri and Alabama growing up, and returned to the University of Virginia for college.  She studied both science and archaeology, and earned a Bachelor of Arts with Highest Distinction in 1999. 

Dr. Smith attended the University of Virginia Medical School and graduated in 2003.  She then completed her four-year Obstetrics  and Gynecology residency at the University of Virginia.  In 2007, Dr. Smith was chosen to complete her three-year Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston IVF, affiliate programs of Harvard Medical School. 

She received a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) during fellowship for her research on a new biologic pathway in the ovary, and continues to have an active interest in research.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  She is a member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Bruce Bateman, MD

Viginia Fertilty Specialist Bruce Bateman

Dr. Bruce Bateman is a native of Georgia.  He is married with two daughters.  Dr. Bateman completed his college at the University of Georgia and graduated in 1970 from the Medical College of Georgia.  He undertook residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Virginia.  He then completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Virginia.  

Dr. Bateman served as the Director of the Division of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery for 10 years and was the Co-Director of the In Vitro Fertilization program.  Dr. Bateman founded the In Vitro Fertilization Program in 1986. 

He was on the UVA Faculty for 24 years.  He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is sub-specialty certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.  He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons.

Fertility Practice Administrative Staff

Jody Halloran is the Practice Administrator for the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center.  She was born in Asheville, North Carolina and has lived in Charlottesville for 10 years. She is married and a mother of two children. Jody is currently working on her Associates Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. 

Jody has been with the Reproductive Medicine practice for a total of seven years and thoroughly enjoys interacting closely with patients and the staff. She has extensive experience in administrative management and accounting. Jody has also obtained her Certified Professional Coding certification. 

Her passion at RMSCVA is to make sure that customer service is at the highest level possible.  Jody’s organization and customer service skills allow her to manage the RMSCVA staff so that your experience will be the best that it can be.

Linda AldridgeLinda Aldridge is the insurance counselor for Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia as well as an Office Specialist Assistant.  She was born in Charlottesville and grew up in Fluvanna County.  Linda has been a wife to Bill for 16 years and mother to two very beautiful daughters, Brandi and Ashleigh.   Linda also has two very handsome step-sons Kevin and Ryan and a very special 5 year old grandson Jacob. 

Linda has 16 years of customer service experience and has been in the medical field for 6 years.  She enjoys working with others and is a team player in our practice.  Outside of work Linda enjoys going to the beach, watching movies and cooking up new recipes.  She also participates in an outreach ministry at her church which serves a large part of Charlottesville.

 

Michele Eavey is the Billing Analyst for Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia. She was born in Staunton and grew up in Highland County. Michele has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She resides in Staunton with her husband. Other interests include traveling, scrap booking, reading and gardening.

 

Jocelyn Fleming


Jocelyn Fleming
is an Administrative Assistant for Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia. She was born in Charlottesville and grew up in the beautiful County of Nelson.  She is the proud parent of 2 daughters, Tayah and Erielle. 

Jocelyn joined our team in December 2005 and has been a friendly smile for our patients. She enjoys getting to know the patients and making them feel like family while in our care. Outside of work Jocelyn enjoys reading, shopping and spending time with her boyfriend Eric and his daughter Jaden.


Virginia Fertility Clinic NursesGlenna Kennett

Glenna Kennett, RN is a graduate of Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Professional Nursing. Before joining the Reproductive Medicine & Surgery Center of Virginia in November 2005, Glenna worked for 11 years with a Reproductive Endocrinologist in Roanoke, VA. 

She also has 14 years experience as a nurse in Labor & Delivery, including functioning as Clinical Team Leader as well as having worked in the Operating Room.  Ready to be closer to family, Glenna moved to Charlottesville.  She has two daughters and enjoys outside activities, walking, hiking and eating out.


Jan Knaus, RN graduated from Richmond Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and specialized in Emergency Department nursing for several years.  She then graduated from George Washington Jan KnausUniversity Family Nurse Practitioner Program with a Bachelor of Health Science. 

She practiced Adolescent Medicine for 12 years at the GWU Student Health Service.  During that time she received an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor from the School of Medicine and taught NP and PA students in clinical rotations.  She developed and taught a Student Peer Educator Program to augment health teaching to the residential student population. 

She is particularly interested in women’s health issues, and so is glad to have the opportunity to work in this clinical setting.  She is returning to work from some years at home with her children-daughter, who is now in college, and twin boys who are in high school.  Jan’s hobbies include ceramics and carpentry.

IVF Nurses
Bonnie Reilly

Bonnie Reilly, RN attended the University of Virginia and received two degrees, a B.A. in Biology and later a B.S. in Nursing.  In 1981 she began her career in Women’s Health at the University of Virginia’s Inpatient GYN Unit and became Clinical Head Nurse.  

In 1986, she helped found the IVF Program at UVA with Dr. Bateman and Dr. Thomas, and was the program’s first IVF Nurse Coordinator.  Bonnie came to Martha Jefferson Hospital in 2005 with The Reproductive Medicine and Surgery group to initiate the IVF program. 

She is married, has two sons and has a passion for food and fine cookery.


Christie AderholtChristie Aderholt, RN has specialized in women’s health since graduation from UVA in 1977 with a B.S. in Nursing.  Christie began her career in UVA’s Labor & Delivery and became the clinical head nurse.  Later, she was the pre term labor nurse coordinator traveling to UVA’s satellite maternity clinics in the health department. 

As part of a state maternal/child grant, she helped develop and held the liaison position of Perinatal Coordinator between the Thomas Jefferson Regional Health District and UVA.  During the seven years prior to joining the IVF team, Christie was the triage nurse then clinical research nurse coordinator for a HPV vaccine clinical trial, at UVA’s Elson Student Health Center GYN.  Christie worked as a Nurse Coordinator in the UVA IVF program from 2001 to 2005. 

She helped initiate the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery IVF program in 2005.  She is married with two children, two dogs and a cockatiel.
